Boy in Critical Condition After Car Collision in West Belfast

An 11-year-old boy is currently in critical condition in hospital following a collision with a car in west Belfast.

The incident occurred on the Shankill Road near the junction with Boundary Street at 19:25 GMT on Saturday.

A 34-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has since been released on bail pending further police investigations.

Police have stated that their enquiries are ongoing and have issued an appeal for witnesses or anyone who may have recorded footage related to the collision to come forward and assist with the investigation.

"Police say their enquiries are continuing, and have appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have recorded footage which could assist with their investigation, to contact them."

The Shankill Road was closed for several hours following the incident but has now reopened to traffic.
