US Operation in Gulf Raises Tensions

The United States initiated an operation on Monday in the Gulf region, escalating tensions and bringing the area close to the brink of full-scale conflict.

Trump’s Warning to Iran

Donald Trump issued a stern warning that Iran would be "blown off the face of the earth" if it attacked US vessels attempting to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

Details of the Operation and Regional Impact

The US operation aims to assist hundreds of ships and their crews trapped in the Gulf. Tehran has attempted to reassert its blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for global trade. According to the US military, six Iranian small boats were destroyed, and Iranian cruise missiles and drones were intercepted; however, these claims have been denied by Iranian authorities.

Currently, over 800 ships and approximately 20,000 crew members remain stranded in the region due to the blockade.

Trump’s Interview and Military Preparedness

In a Monday interview with Fox News, Trump described the ongoing US naval operation as "one of the greatest military maneuvers ever done" and noted that Iranian officials have been "far more malleable" in recent negotiations compared to earlier discussions.

"We have more weapons and ammunition at a much higher grade than we had before.
We have the best equipment. We have stuff all over the world. We have these bases all over the world. They’re all stocked up with equipment. We can use all of that stuff, and we will, if we need it,"

he added, addressing concerns about American weapons stockpiles.

Historical Context and Ceasefire Concerns

Trump’s recent threats echo statements he made in April, when he warned that a "whole civilization will die" if Tehran did not comply with US demands regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Those remarks attracted widespread criticism and concern.

These comments raise questions about the fragile ceasefire brokered by Pakistan last month, which halted hostilities but did not succeed in reopening the Strait of Hormuz. This strait is vital as it typically facilitates about one-fifth of international oil shipments.

Iran’s Military Response and US Naval Movements

Earlier on Monday, Iran’s military central command issued a warning that it would strike any US naval vessel approaching the strait. The command also claimed to have hit a US frigate in the area with two missiles.

Meanwhile, US Central Command announced on Monday that US forces had redirected 50 commercial vessels amid the ongoing blockade.
