Clashes Following PSG Victory
A total of 219 individuals have been injured in confrontations between football supporters and police across France after Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) won the Champions League final against Arsenal.
Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez reported that eight of the injured are in serious condition. To manage the unrest, thousands of officers were deployed, which led to disruptions in bus, train, and rail services in Paris. Among the police, 57 officers sustained injuries.
Arrests and Fatality
According to Nuñez, 780 people have been arrested in connection with the violence, with over 450 currently held in custody. Additionally, one person was found dead following an accident on Paris's ring road, an area where rioters attempted to block traffic overnight.
Security Measures for Victory Parade
Approximately 6,000 police officers have been mobilized for the victory parade scheduled on Sunday at the Eiffel Tower site. The interior minister emphasized the approach of the security forces toward maintaining order.
"We are a great country for maintaining public order. We allow freedom of assembly, but not excesses,"
he said.
