Lord Mandelson’s Email to Jeffrey Epstein
Documents released by the US Department of Justice indicate that Lord Mandelson suggested a holiday home to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in 2010, highlighting the property’s "privacy" and accommodations for Epstein’s "guests."
In an email dated 12 August 2010, Lord Mandelson wrote to Epstein:
"Found you a great place to stay on the Amalfi coast near to Positano. Zeferelli home converted into beautiful suites and privacy with accompanying rooms for your 'guests'."
The email was sent from Lord Mandelson’s Blackberry, according to the documents, although his email address is redacted with a black box that does not fully obscure it in one instance. This partial visibility, along with other emails from the same period, helped and The Bureau of Investigative Journalism identify Lord Mandelson as the sender. Other correspondence suggests Mandelson travelled to Mykonos, which he referred to as "Myk" in the emails, and mentioned returning to London from there later in August 2010.

It remains unclear who the "guests" referenced in the email were, and there is no confirmation that Epstein stayed at the Amalfi Coast property.
Context of the Correspondence
The email was sent one month after Epstein completed a 2008 sentence for soliciting sex from a 14-year-old girl in Florida. The exchange is part of a broader set of communications between Mandelson and Epstein disclosed by the US Department of Justice, which shed new light on their acquaintance.
In other emails from 2009, Lord Mandelson inquired about how to celebrate Epstein’s release from prison. Epstein replied:
"With grace and modesty (those are the names of two strippers)"

Lord Mandelson’s Response and Statements
A spokesperson for Lord Mandelson stated that he "did not discover the truth about Epstein until after his death in 2019." His legal representatives added that he has "no recollection of this email, which was sent over 15 years ago."
The spokesperson further commented:
"Lord Mandelson regrets, and will regret until to his dying day, that he believed Epstein's lies about his criminality.
Lord Mandelson did not discover the truth about Epstein until after his death in 2019.
He is profoundly sorry that powerless and vulnerable women and girls were not given the protection they deserved."
