A man in his 20s has been arrested following the death of a 16-year-old girl in a hit-and-run incident in Navan, County Meath.
The collision occurred at approximately 20:20 local time on Saturday on the Slane Road.

Emergency services attended the scene where a car had struck a female pedestrian. Gardaí reported that the vehicle "failed to remain at the scene." The girl received treatment at the location before being transported to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The male suspect, arrested in connection with the investigation, is currently held at a Garda station in the eastern region. Authorities have seized a car for technical and forensic examination.
The collision site remains preserved for further examination, and local traffic diversions have been implemented.
