Jet Ski Rider Rescues Kayakers Off South Scotland Coast
Two rescue operations were conducted on the same afternoon after kayakers encountered difficulties off the south coast of Scotland.
At approximately 12:20 on Tuesday, HM Coastguard received a call regarding kayakers in distress near Auchenlarie Holiday Park, close to Gatehouse of Fleet.
A bystander operating a jet ski responded promptly, reaching the kayakers who had been caught off guard by offshore winds and a turning tide. He successfully brought them back to shore where the coastguard personnel met and assessed them.

The coastguard has issued safety advice for kayakers and paddleboarders before venturing onto the water.
Kirkcudbright RNLI was also dispatched to the location and managed to recover both kayaks, returning them safely to base.
HM Coastguard described the collaboration as a
"great partnership working together".
Second Rescue Operation at Mossyard Caravan Park
Later the same day, at 16:25, the coastguard was alerted to another incident near Mossyard Caravan Park involving two kayakers who appeared to be struggling.
Kirkcudbright RNLI and Fleet Bay Inshore Rescue were deployed to the scene and successfully brought the individuals safely ashore.
Safety Recommendations from Coastguard
Following these incidents, coastguard officials reiterated their safety recommendations for kayakers and paddleboarders, emphasizing the importance of thorough preparation before heading out on the water.
They advised ensuring the use of a personal flotation device, carrying a fully charged phone in a waterproof pouch, and having a personal locator beacon.
Additionally, they recommended labeling all equipment to assist the coastguard in safety checks if any items are found.
