Dog Trained to Dump Rubbish to Avoid CCTV

A man in Sicily reportedly trained his dog to discard bags of rubbish on the side of a road in an effort to evade CCTV cameras, according to local authorities.

Italian police released video footage showing a small dog calmly walking down a road in Catania's San Giorgio district, carrying a bag of rubbish in its mouth before dropping it by the roadside.

Authorities noted that the dog's behavior, captured on video on two consecutive days, provides strong evidence that the animal had been trained to deposit rubbish bags, allowing its owner to avoid being filmed disposing of waste.

"Ingenuity can never become an alibi for incivility," the City of Catania stated in a post on its official Facebook page.

Authorities Condemn the Act

Catania officials described the dog's actions as "cunning" and "doubly wrong," emphasizing that the man was "exploiting the unwitting four-legged friend."

"Respect for decorum and the environment is everyone's duty," the post added.

The statement did not specify whether any legal action had been taken against the individual involved.
