Rescue at Wastwater Screes
A couple and their two Bernese mountain dogs were rescued from an area of unstable boulders in a national park.
Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team (WMRT) reported receiving a call from Cumbria Police on Monday evening regarding a couple stuck at Wastwater Screes, a rocky area on the bank of Wastwater in the Lake District.
The pair had become trapped along with their dogs, Hugo and Elsie, according to WMRT. The rescue team deployed a boat across the lake to assist in evacuating the group.

Details of the Rescue
"Hugo and Elsie were over the moon about their unexpected boat trip, enjoying biscuits and giving the crew plenty of encouragement with enthusiastic woofs,"
a spokesperson said.
"They were safely transported - along with their owners - to the opposite shore so they could return to their car without any more ruff terrain to negotiate.
"A wholesome rescue all round, with two happy Bernese mountain dogs enjoying a surprise cruise on Wastwater and proving once again that even the best adventure dogs sometimes need a little help from their friends."
The rescue operation began at approximately 19:20 BST and involved six volunteer team members. It lasted just over two hours and 30 minutes.
Hugo and Elsie were taken to safety along with their owners.
