One Nation Removes Candidate Amid UK Arrest Warrant Reports

Aoi Baxter was the One Nation candidate for the South Australian state seat of Adelaide in the election held on Saturday.

One Nation, a right-wing political party, has disendorsed former candidate Aoi Baxter following media reports indicating a warrant for his arrest exists in the United Kingdom.

Baxter, who was reportedly previously known as Trent Baxter, allegedly failed to appear at a court hearing. A UK court confirmed to the ABC that a warrant had been issued for the arrest of a man named Trent Baxter.

The former candidate for the Adelaide seat was reportedly charged in September 2023 with sexually touching a woman without consent, according to the ABC report.

Context Ahead of South Australian Election

These developments emerged on the eve of the South Australian state election held on Saturday, during which One Nation has experienced a decline in support. Meanwhile, the Liberal party announced it would preference Labor last, despite One Nation running open tickets on their how-to-vote cards.

Party Statement and Response

In a statement provided to Australia on Friday, One Nation stated that Baxter had not disclosed the warrant for his arrest to the party.

“Mr Baxter is no longer a One Nation candidate as a result of this news,” One Nation said.
“One Nation conducted a nation-wide police check on Mr Baxter as it does with all candidates. No issues were discovered.”

The party also indicated it would cooperate fully with law enforcement and noted that it has been unable to contact Baxter.

Removal of Candidate Profile

Baxter’s candidate page on the One Nation website has since been removed. In its place, a message reads,

“Maybe Albo broke the internet (again), or maybe the page you were looking for was just not found on our amazing new website.”

Prior to its removal, the party described Baxter as bringing a blend of “real-world experience to politics,” noting his time spent in the Australian Defence Force and involvement in small business operations. He was also recognized for volunteering with Rotary, Disaster Relief Australia, and the Movember campaign.

Background and Recent Developments

Baxter’s social media and LinkedIn profiles list him as a “creative director” for Aoi Studio. He attracted media attention in recent weeks as a late addition to One Nation’s ticket, having reportedly moved to North Adelaide in mid-2025.

Baxter was contacted for comment but no response has been reported.
