Australia Backs Removal of Prince Andrew from Succession

Australia's prime minister has informed Sir Keir Starmer that his government supports plans to remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the royal line of succession.

Anthony Albanese conveyed his endorsement of the proposal in a letter addressed to the UK prime minister.

Despite being stripped of his titles, including "prince," in October 2025 due to pressure over his association with paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein, Andrew remains eighth in line to the throne.

The UK government is currently considering legislation to formally remove him from the line of succession. This development follows Andrew's arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office on Thursday. He has consistently and strenuously denied any wrongdoing.
