Assisted dying services within the NHS in Wales have progressed following a significant vote in the Welsh Parliament.

The vote held at Cardiff Bay was necessary because the backbench legislation grants the Welsh government the authority to establish regulations for assisted dying services should it choose to do so.

Members of the Senedd also supported a Plaid Cymru amendment that expressed concern over

"the lack of thorough consideration of the constitutional implications of this bill for Wales"
.

The motion received support from 28 Senedd members, with 23 opposing and two abstaining.
