Passengers Held on Cruise Ship in France Amid Gastroenteritis Cases
More than 1,000 passengers remain on board a UK-operated cruise ship docked in France after 49 individuals became ill with gastroenteritis.
Local authorities in Bordeaux reported that three passengers on the Ambition cruise ship have been isolated in their cabins, while the remaining passengers are not permitted to disembark at the port.
Officials clarified that there is "no reason" to associate this outbreak with a hantavirus incident occurring on a different cruise ship.
Response from Ambassador Cruise Line
Ambassador Cruise Line issued a statement to the BBC, noting that "a number of guests and crew onboard Ambition have displayed or are displaying symptoms consistent with gastrointestinal illness."
