Day Two of Radio 1's Big Weekend Begins in Sunderland
Day two of Radio 1's Big Weekend is currently underway in Sunderland, with Swedish pop artist Zara Larsson scheduled to headline the event.
The festival, which serves as the flagship event for the radio station, is being held this year at Herrington Country Park.
Over the course of three days, approximately 100,000 attendees are expected to participate. The opening day concluded with a set by DJ Fatboy Slim, following performances by Australian producers Fisher and Sonny Fodera, Birmingham-born singer Clementine Douglas, and American DJ MK.

Radio 1 presenter Vick Hope, originally from Newcastle before relocating to Northumberland, characterized the event as having a "carnival" atmosphere.
Local Band Swindled to Perform on Introducing Stage
Indie rock band Swindled is scheduled to perform on the Introducing stage on Saturday. The band members—Jonny and Will Swindle, Felix Walls, Alex Winn, and Thomas Hall—grew up just minutes from Herrington Park.
Prior to their performance, Jonny Swindle told Radio Newcastle that the stage "looks unbelievable - a lot better than we're used to."
The day's lineup will also feature performances by Ellie Goulding, Lola Young, James Blake, and Mitski.
Festival Atmosphere and Regional Pride
Speaking to Look North, Vick Hope described the atmosphere:
"There's a vibe, a really nice atmosphere. It's a bank holiday weekend, you've got that anticipation, it's like a carnival. It's set to be an amazing weekend.
"I think music's in our blood. We are so proud of the musical heritage we have up here. Just the other day Sam Fender [from North Shields] won an Ivor Novello award.
"So I feel like we're representing. For a lot of the artists coming up, to see what our crowds are like is really exciting. We bring energy."
