Sector Performance

Within the economic sectors, the services sector reported no growth during January. Production declined slightly by 0.1%, whereas the construction sector saw a growth of 0.2%.

Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which measures the total economic activity of companies, governments, and individuals within a country, serves as the indicator for these figures.

Government Response

Since assuming power, the Labour Party has prioritized economic growth as its foremost objective.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves said: "Our economic plan is the right one, but I know there is more to do.
In an uncertain world, we are building a stronger and more secure economy by cutting the cost of living, cutting national debt and creating the conditions for growth to make all parts of the country better off."
