OpenAI, known for developing ChatGPT, was initially established as a non-profit organization. Musk has filed a lawsuit against Altman, accusing him of having "looted a charity."

During his testimony before a federal jury in Oakland, California, Altman explained that Musk not only supported the transition of OpenAI into a for-profit entity but also intended to maintain long-term control over it.

"A particularly hair-raising moment was when my cofounders asked, 'If you have control, what happens when you die?' He said something like '...maybe it should pass to my children.'"
