Northern Ireland's defence sector is set to experience significant growth, with officials announcing that hundreds of local jobs will be created as a result of a new investment initiative.
The Northern Ireland Defence Growth Deal, unveiled by the UK government, involves a £50 million investment targeted at technology companies and startups within the region.
Collaboration Between Government, Industry, and Academia
This initiative represents a partnership among the Ministry of Defence, local businesses, and Queen's University Belfast. The deal also aims to support students by enhancing their skills in engineering and technology fields.
Official Launch and Engagement with Local Stakeholders
At the launch event held on Wednesday, Defence Minister Luke Pollard and Northern Ireland Office Minister Matthew Patrick are scheduled to visit Belfast. During their visit, they will engage with representatives from local industry and academic institutions.
